Things are about to be a lot more colorful, inviting and fun for the whole family in a specific downtown spot. The soon-to-be How Hop Creative District in Downtown Biloxi will be located under Interstate 110 at the corner of Howard Avenue and Hopkins Boulevard.
About How Hop Creative District
Under the leadership of Biloxi Main Street, How Hop Creative District in Downtown Biloxi received a $50,000 grant for enhancements. The grant was funded by the Gulf Coast Community Foundation and The Knight Foundation.
According to reports, the organization requested bids for the beautification project from a variety of professionals in February. Architectural firms, engineering firms and construction management companies were all invited to submit proposals.
The idea for the project initially took shape during a three-day planning session held last August. At that time, a wide range of community stakeholders, business owners and residents all gathered to share ideas on ways to enrich community life.
Hence, the birth of How Hop, where art and entertainment will come to light.
More about the project
Work on the area under Interstate 110 will include several aspects. There will be the addition of lighting and artistic elements as well as a multi use space for the public.
In the end, How Hop Creative District in Downtown Biloxi will serve as a community hub and gathering spot for people of all ages. It will be a city center focused on creative art, a place for kids to play and adults to mingle. Visitors who are 21 and older can even unwind while sipping on a cold craft beer or cocktail.
The project is expected to get underway in the coming weeks, with plans to be finished by the end of the year.
